Outlook Anywhere internnally

Hi everyone,

How can I force Autodiscover to configure Outlook through HTTPS (Outlook Anywhere) even when the user in on a domain-joined computer (the DC is reachable and Outlook Anywhere is already configured)?

My Exchange deployment has different internal and external URLs:

Internal URL:  https://server.klonic.local/xxxxxx  (OAB, OWA, etc..)

External URL: https://mail.klonic.local/xxxxxxx  (OAB, OWA, etc...)

If I configure an Outlook profile inside the local network from a domain-joined computer, Outlook won't get the HTTPS configuration (Outlook Anywhere). Doing so from a non-domain joined computer will configure Outlook with HTTPS.

My question came because I had a customer whose Exchange server did have the same URLs (i.e. Internal URLs = External URLs). He had Outlook Anywhere configured and users always got the Outlook Anywhere configuration when starting a new Outlook profile, even when inside the local LAN where the DC was reachable (actually DC on the same server as Exchange).

Thank you very much.

Additional info: all Windows 2008 R2 SP1, Exchange 2010 SP2, Outlook 2010, Windows 7
