Delegate gets a copy of meeting in their calendar even when creating in the principal's calendar

When a delegate creates a calendar by opening the principal's calender and creating the appointment, the delegate has the calendar item appear in their own calendar.  Removing the check on the option of "Delegate receives copies of meeting-related messages sent to me" corrects the issue, but then the delegate does not see the meeting resonses or proposed new times. (unless they view the item in principal's calendar)

As I recall, creating the meeting in the principal's calendar should NOT add the appointment to the delegate's calendar.

Any body have any suggestions?  I have found many instructions on how to perform this and many different issues with delgate calendar access, but not this one exactly.
