Transition From EXCH 2003 to EXCH 2010 SP2-Public Folder Replication-What is the correct way to migrate?

$

Hello everybody,

I'm pretty sure this question has been asked many time, this is what I have:

an exchange 2010 sp2 has been introduced to a exchange 2003 sp2 organization the Discovery and legacy structure is in place, one has been moved to exchange 2010, when using ow app the migrated user goes correctly to exchange 2010 mailbox and a user residing in the old exchange 2003 use ow app goes to the old mailbox(2003).

From the exchange 2010 the migrated user can send email to any user residing in the old 2003 server and viceversa, at this point I haven't replicates system folders(free busy contact list,Offline Address Book).

I've been reading in this forum about migrating the public folders(system folders, we don't have public folders other than the system folders) but not really referring to what tools to use. We still have half of outlook 2003 that's why we need to slowly do the transition  to 2010.

somebody mentioned about migrating PF with PFmigrate and others using the exchange 2003 System Manager, so can anybody give me the right guidence to how to migrate these system folder accurately and safe?

Thank you all...

Autodiscover service OOF/Free-Busy problem

$

I am in the process of migrating from a single-server, exchange 2003 environment to a 2-multi-role Exchange 2010 environment.  the new servers both each have CAS/HUB/MBX installed on them, and we are running a Kemp LB that is doing SSL Offloading.  Everything else seems to be working fine to this point except the AS.  here are the symptoms:

Autodiscover correctly configures Outlook 2010 clients

OOF and Free/busy work in OWA

OOF and Free/Busy do not work in Outlook.

The 'test email autoconfiguration' utility in Outlook 2010 returns a failed (0x800C8202), which doesn't return any hits on google oddly.

Test -Outlookwebservices returns 'The Autodiscover response is not complete', and 'The number of providers that weren't found is EXCH EXPR.' but everything else in the test seems as expected

Here's what I've tried (I've been looking at this for 2 weeks, and have probably tried other things, but these are the steps that I can recently remember)

Recreated both the /EWS and /Autodiscover VDs

Tried every combination of Anon/Basic/Windows authentication

Any ideas on this?

getting an old address book after updating

I've created a new profile and updated the global address list manually with Exchange Management Shell.

Everything worked well. After that I've downloaded the address book to a client but I got the old address book. So i deleted all the .oab files on the client and restarted the download -> again I got old data.

I've tried also to delete ...\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ExchangeOAB\{GUID} and ...\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\OAB{GUID} and recreated the address book again. It work well, but I've got the old address book again on the client after deleting .oab files and downloading the new address book.

I don't no what again to do. The only thing I've recognized is, that the oab.xml has an old date of last change. How could that be? I've deleted everything and created it new. All of the .lzx-files are up-to-date.

I want to build a lab where Exchange UM hosts the voicemail only but another system actually handles the calls. Can anyone recommend a system that is capable of doing this that I can use in a virtual lab environment?

automateprocessing settings are changed? or changing?

Hi,

We have exchange 2010 SP2rollup 5 and have an issues with the automateprocessing value for user mailboxes.

In several instance we have had users complain that their mailboxes are immediately deleting emails (not just meeting requests but all incoming mail for that user).

If I check the automateprocessing value it is set to autoaccept. I have to set it to autoupdate and this immediately resolves the problem

In another instance I have one user who, when invited to a meeting, his delegate accepts for him. At some random time (sometimes after midnight) the meeting is canceled. He is not the once cancelling but all the attendees (even the organizer) get the cancellation. At that same moment the a new email is only sent to himself to add the item to his calendar. The user is not doing this, it seems to be a random occurance.

I check the users automateprocessing and it is set to none.. I set it to autoupdat and will see.

I have seen that I am not the only person to have seen this, but no explanations. The calendar hijack issue, I thought, was to be resolved in rollup4 but Iguess not.

Thoughts?

Send-As errors

I've seen similar threads, but no solutions.

Exchange 2010 SP2 RU3

I grant a user Send-As permissions to a distribution group.  I also granted myself Send-As on this distribution group, for testing.

When creating a message, I have to go through the long process of getting to the Global Address List, and selecting the distribution group.  If I do it that way, the send works.

However, the next time I want to send-as this account, if I click the From button and choose the suggested name, which is the name I want to use, I get an NDR, saying that I can't send on behalf of the person I was sending the message To:.

Anyone know of a way to fix this?

Looking For a script for a daily and weekly report

I'm looking to make a report that will report on Emails sent to and from multiple email address between time periods. The time periods would be daily (for previous day) and Weekly (for previous week).

I was using the this command for a single pull - C:\Windows\system32>$logrecs = get-messagetrackinglog -Recipients:customer.care@ -EventID "RECEIVE" -Start "03/15/2010 12:00:00 AM" -End "03/18/2010 3:31:00 PM" -DomainController

That will take take to long to do against 8 email addresses.

Is there a powershell way of doing this and can it email the results?

Hi,

I applied Update Rollup 4 for Ex2010 SP2 three days ago, and since then I've been having the following error messages:

Event 4999:

Event 64772:

The filter daemon process MSFTEFD exited unexpectedly. Here is the stack trace:

Event 1503:

The system exception c000010a was raised at 000007FEF9B60F16. Stack:

These errors are coming up a couple of times an hour.

I thought it might be something to do with corrupt DB catalog files for searching, so I used the ResetSearchIndex.ps1 script to reset them, but this hasn't fixed anything.

Any ideas what to do next?

Thanks,

Adam

How to remove orphaned 3rd Party connector from Exchange?

$

Hello Community,

we are currently migration a customer environment from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. During this migration we discovered an old Exchange UMS connector (MRS from Cycos), which was not cleanly uninstalled.

There is a MRS mailbox in one database. not related to a user. With ADSI Edit i can still see connector entries in AD. My question is: What is the best way to get rid of this data, if we do not get support from the vendor?

Can we just delete all related connector objects in AD or are there special steps to take?

Thank you for any hints and suggestions,

Dirk

Hi... I was wondering how to create a dynamic distribution group in Exchange 2010 based on which database the mailboxes reside. For example when I add/move a mailbox to a database named "Inactive" the dynamic distribution group should update the members list automatically.

Any tips and how to's will be appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

After migration of some mailboxes from Exchange 2007 to 2010 we have a problem managing rules. When trying to create or look at rules from OWA we get an Mapi error (See below). Hi all,

im doing cross forest migration from 2003 to 2010 Exchange im using Prepare-MoveRequest and ADMT 3.2 i used Prepare-MoveRequest first then ADMT but for some users after migrating them the Email attributes are not set so they are not appear in the GAL or have email address and i can't run Prepare-MoveRequest again when i run it i got the following error

C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\v14\Scripts\Prepare-MoveRequest.ps1 : Cannot create mail enabled user becaus
e an existing object with type  already has the same proxy addresses/MasterAccountSid.

so what can i do to add the exchange attributes to the user
